3. Know The Industry/Know The Job

We realize that every job has a large learning curve. When you join Deutsche Bank you will take part of a comprehensive training program. However, we expect you to understand some fundamental concepts about the industry and your job.
· Get used to banking lingo. Fixed Income, Cash Flow, Bond
· Follow the large markets. We don’t expect you to know the exact percentage change of a specific stock but we do expect you to know the major trends in some of the large financial markets.
· If you are interviewing for a research position don’t ask when you will start selling or trading.
· Know who the major players are in the industry.
· Have a few questions prepared to demonstrate you have done some research and want more information.

· Target your responses to the role you like. Looking to work in our Hong Kong office? Tell us why you will be a good fit. Have you lived/worked in Hong Kong? Do you speak Mandarin? Tell us, we want to know.
· Point to specific ways your experience uniquely qualifies you. If you want to work in Corporate Finance tell us about some of the analysis you conducted at a previous job or for a class project. Want to work in Private Banking? Demonstrate that you are not only a quant jock but also a very competent relationship manager.
· If you are receiving your first university degree and don抰 have much work experience, talk about your technical skills, your extra-curricular and leadership roles, and relevant projects you completed in school. 我是应届生

How do you decide if a candidate advances in the interviewing process?

Number one is academics. Those without stellar records need not apply. Don抰 think omitting your grades will help you slip in. This is an indicator that you抮e hiding something. That said, never underestimate the pull of demonstrating relevant work experience ?in some regions this takes precedence over strong grades. This is not a time to be modest. 我是应届生
If you have banking experience, this is also extremely helpful, and you should emphasize that in the application and during the interview.
